19. August 2024 – 31. October 2024

Visit the History Center Dybbøl Banke and step directly into the history of the war in 1864 between the Danes and the Prussians. In our authentic redoubt reconstruction, you can for the first time since 1864 walk around a Danish redoubt system. Among other things, you can see the large block house built from bomb beams weighing tons and go down into the powder room, which was the only building in the redoubt made of concrete. You can experience life behind the front in the soldiers' village, where you can try out a telegraph and lie down in the straw in the personnel barracks.

Inside the History Center we show the film Doomsday for Denmark about the 1864 war and the two films about the war's two major battles at Sønderborg: The Storm Day about the big battle at Dybbøl Banke on April 18 and The Attack on Als about the decisive battle on June 29 1864.

You can take part in three daily tours of our fortifications and soldiers' village.

We recommend that you end the visit with a walk along the Danish fortification line outside the History Centre.
