Ascension Day holidaysSeasons Overview

14. May 2026 – 17. May 2026

Visit the History Centre in Dybbøl during Ascension Day holidays!

The Ascension Day holiday is the perfect opportunity to step directly into history - and at the History Centre Dybbøl Banke there is plenty to experience for both children and adults. You decide the pace: Join as many stories as you want, watch our films, explore the exhibition and experience the reconstructed redoubt, where history can almost be felt physically. Here there is not only something to look at – but something to be a part of.

Do you want to try your hand at life in 1864? Bake pancakes over an open fire, cast your own bullet, and get a very concrete sense of everyday life for the soldiers during the war. Our guides are ready with vivid stories that make history present and easy to understand. We tell about the war in 1864, but we do not stop at weapons and battles. You also hear about people, choices, hopes, fears and the consequences of the war – then and today. In short: History that can be seen, heard and felt. An experience that lingers long after the visit.

Inside the History Centre, we have a short film about the political background and the battle on the 18th of April as well as a film about the attack on Als on the 29th of June.

All guided tours are in Danish, except the daily tour "For Foreign Guests".

Opening hours: 10.00 to 17.00.

Practical information:

  • Remember: Comfortable and good shoes as well as maybe rainproof clothing since a part of the tour takes place outside.
  • You can bring your lunch and eat in our yard.
  • Dogs are also welcome.
